CORRECTIONS
Errors are checked against the source before a page changes
If a price, date, formula or explanation appears wrong, GoldObserve checks the original source and the calculation that produced the result. A confirmed material error is labelled, corrected and dated; a normal source update is not presented as a site correction.
What users can expect
- Identify the affected result. The page, date, unit and disputed value are matched to their stated source.
- Check whether the source changed. An official revision is distinguished from a calculation or editorial error.
- Protect users while checking. An unreliable result may be marked unavailable or carry a visible warning.
- Publish the correction clearly. Material changes include the corrected value, affected period and correction date.
Technical correction recordVersion history and verification details
The technical record distinguishes a source revision, a GoldObserve transformation error, a routine later observation and a transport failure. It records source version, hashes, observation counts, added/changed/deleted records and affected routes, then checks calculators, charts, tables, CSV, structured data and PHP parity before release.
VERSIONED DATA CHANGE LEDGER
Routine updates, source revisions and corrections stay separate
The ledger records reviewed checked-in dataset changes only. Source observation, official publication or schedule, GoldObserve retrieval, local baseline generation and approval are separate clocks; a missing clock stays explicitly unavailable. Routine appends, upstream revisions and GoldObserve corrections remain separate, and an empty category is not evidence that no unreported issue exists.
