BUDGET TO GRAMS

How many grams at metal value?

This is a theoretical metal-only quantity and excludes dealer premiums, fabrication, fees and tax.

Calculated quantityat the selected 24K per-gram value

Formula: spot price per troy ounce ÷ 31.1034768 × purity = gold metal value per gram.

How gold price per gram is calculated

Wholesale gold is commonly quoted per troy ounce. One troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams, so the 24K reference price per gram is the ounce price divided by that constant. A lower-Karat price is the 24K per-gram value multiplied by its gold-content fraction.

1

Convert the troy ounce24K price per gram = spot price per troy ounce ÷ 31.1034768.

2

Apply gold content18K uses 18 ÷ 24 = 0.75; 14K uses 14 ÷ 24 = 0.583333.

Why 24K, 22K, 18K and 14K have different per-gram prices

A gram describes total mass, not pure-gold mass. One gram of 18K alloy contains 0.75 calculated grams of gold, while one gram of 14K alloy contains approximately 0.5833 calculated grams. Their metal values are therefore proportional to gold content when all calculations use the same spot price and timestamp.

24K mathematical basis100% gold-content ratio
22K91.6667% gold-content ratio
18K75% gold-content ratio
14K58.3333% gold-content ratio
10K41.6667% gold-content ratio
9K37.5% gold-content ratio

Metal value is not automatically a shop price or cash offer

A retail gram price can be higher because it includes a product form, fabrication, inventory, distribution and commercial margin. A buyback gram price can be lower because testing, refining and settlement costs may be deducted. This calculator keeps the underlying metal value visible so those transaction adjustments can be compared separately.

Budget-to-grams result

Dividing a budget by the selected per-gram metal value returns a theoretical quantity. It does not promise that a bar, coin or jewellery item is available at that price, because real products can include minimum sizes and premiums.

Frequently asked questions

How much is one gram of 24K gold?

The live result is the selected currency's troy-ounce reference divided by 31.1034768. The provider and observation time are displayed with the calculator.

How do I calculate 18K gold price per gram?

Multiply the 24K per-gram reference by 0.75 because 18 ÷ 24 = 0.75.

Is 14K calculated with 0.585 or 14 ÷ 24?

The mathematical Karat conversion is 14 ÷ 24 = 0.583333. A product stamped 585 claims a 0.585 fineness specification; use the custom percentage field when that exact value is required.

Can I download all Karat prices?

Yes. The CSV contains each supported Karat, purity, fineness, live price per gram, currency and troy-ounce reference.

Does the result include jewellery making charges?

No. The page calculates metal value only so fabrication and other retail adjustments remain transparent.
