LIVE BULK GOLD PRICE · 60-SECOND REFRESH

Gold price per kilogram is a fine-gold reference

The gold price per kilogram is the market value of 1,000 grams—or about 32.1507466 troy ounces—of fine gold in a selected currency. A physical 1 kg bar normally contains slightly less than one fine kilogram because its fineness is below perfect purity, then adds fabrication, distribution, delivery, insurance, storage and a dealer spread.

Price a kilobar from metal value to modeled exit

Start with a source-labelled price per fine kilogram, then enter gross weight and fineness. The tool separates contained-gold value, product premium, fixed purchase expenses, modeled storage and a future buyback discount. It also calculates a conditional break-even kilogram price without pretending to predict the market.

Metal value = gross kilograms × purity fraction × price per fine kilogram. For example, 999.9 fineness uses a 0.9999 purity fraction. One kilogram = 32.1507466 troy ounces.

A 3% premium adds $2,399.76; entered delivery and payment costs add $150.

04Acquisition: $82,541.76

With a future 1% buyback discount, break-even is about $83,383.85 per fine kg.

That conditional break-even is about 4.23% above the starting reference before storage. It assumes the bar remains accepted at the entered fineness and the same buyback discount. Actual dealer bids, assay costs, currency and market liquidity can change.

WHY A KILOBAR PREMIUM MOVES

Bulk price is shaped by more than fabrication

Refiner recognitionBars from widely accepted refiners may be easier to resell without additional assay, but recognition varies by market.
Assay and chain of custodyPackaging, serial numbers, vault records and custody history can influence verification time and bid quality.
Inventory and volatilityFast prices and scarce ready inventory can widen quote buffers even when fabrication cost is unchanged.
Delivery and insuranceA kilogram's high value changes secure shipping, collection, loss and counterparty considerations.
Payment and settlementBank transfer, card, cash, financing, settlement delay and cancellation rules can change the all-in price.
Local liquidityA product with a low purchase premium can still be costly if nearby buyers quote a weak resale bid.

STORAGE ECONOMICS

A lower per-gram premium does not remove concentration risk

A kilobar can reduce fabrication premium per gram, but it concentrates a large value in one indivisible object. Selling 100 grams normally means selling the entire bar unless the owner arranges a costly transformation. Compare home storage, safe-deposit arrangements and professional allocated vaulting by insurance coverage, access, audit rights, legal ownership, withdrawal conditions and total annual cost.

QuestionWhy it mattersEvidence to request

CURRENCY AND CROSS-BORDER COSTS

The local kilogram price combines gold and foreign exchange

LOCAL PRICE PER FINE KILOGRAMUSD gold per troy oz × 32.1507466 × local-currency units per USD

Dealer FX, banking, customs, tax and import restrictions can make an executable local price different.

Keep the gold and FX observations aligned in time. A large kilogram transaction magnifies even a small FX difference, so compare the actual settlement currency and bank conversion—not just a headline spot rate. Cross-border transport can introduce declarations, duties, licensing and security requirements that this calculator does not determine.

KILOBAR PURCHASE CHECKLIST

Verify the bar before comparing the percentage premium

01Record refiner, exact gross weight, fineness, serial number and assay packaging.

02Capture the gold reference, source, currency, unit and observation time.

03Calculate fine kilograms, fine troy ounces and contained metal value.

04Add payment, delivery, insurance, tax and custody setup costs.

05Request a same-time written buyback bid for that refiner and condition.

06Confirm inspection, assay, settlement, cancellation and quote-expiry rules.

07Verify storage ownership, insurance, audit and withdrawal terms.

08Compare several complete quotes; reject guaranteed appreciation or unverifiable custody.

PRIMARY SOURCES AND SCOPE

Mass, benchmark and bar standards are separate questions

GoldObserve does not authenticate a bar, recommend a dealer or custodian, calculate tax, determine import legality, provide an executable bid, or forecast gold. The tool calculates only the assumptions shown and labels unavailable provider data instead of manufacturing a quote.

FAQ

Gold price per kilogram questions

How many troy ounces are in a kilogram of gold?

Approximately 32.1507466 troy ounces. The calculation is 1,000 grams divided by exactly 31.1034768 grams per troy ounce.

Is a 1 kg bar worth exactly the displayed kilogram price?

Usually not. Apply actual fineness to the gross bar, then account for the product premium and transaction costs.

Why are kilogram prices different across websites?

Sources can differ by observation time, bid/ask basis, benchmark, FX rate, caching and rounding. Compare labels before numbers.

How often does this page update?

It requests a new price when opened and every 60 seconds in live mode. The provider's observation timestamp remains visible.

Is a kilobar an LBMA Good Delivery bar?

No. LBMA Good Delivery bars are much larger wholesale bars with a fine-weight range of 350 to 430 troy ounces and minimum fineness 995.

Does the lowest premium identify the best kilobar?

No. Refiner recognition, assay, secure delivery, storage, insurance and the future buyback bid can outweigh a small premium difference.
