REFINER STATUS / BAR MARK / DATE

LBMA Good Delivery List Explained

THE SHORT ANSWER

The list accredits a refinery and qualifying wholesale bar, not every retail product

Use the official LBMA record to check current or former refinery status, location, listing date, current bar mark and available assurance documents. Then separately verify the exact retail bar, seller, packaging, invoice and test evidence. A copied logo or serial number is not accreditation.

FOUR-PART LOOKUP

Capture more than the refiner's name

01Status

Current or former list on the check date.

02Location

Exact refinery, not only corporate brand.

03Bar mark

Current mark and documented historical changes.

04Assurance

Available certificates, audit reports and monitoring date.

Save the URL and access date in your transaction record. Do not imply that a current listing guarantees a seller, title, storage arrangement or a bar from another facility using a similar brand.

CURRENT VS FORMER

A historical bar needs the rule and mark from its production era

Refiner-list evidence to retain with the check date; the official list remains the maintained source.
RecordQuestion answeredWhat it does not prove
Current ListWas this refinery currently accredited on the check date? That a photographed retail bar or seller is genuine
Former ListWhat historical status and dates are recorded? That every earlier product met every current rule
Official bar markWhat mark is associated with the exact facility and era? That a visually similar stamp was made by that facility
Monitoring recordWhat continuing program evidence is published for the refiner?A test or chain of custody for the individual retail item

A refiner's transfer to the Former List does not retroactively erase every bar it produced. Conversely, current status should not be projected backward to a bar made before the relevant listing or mark. Reconcile manufacturing date, refinery location, documented mark and official status history.

LICENSE BOUNDARY

Use the official list as the maintained source

LBMA states that the Good Delivery List and proprietary information within it belong to LBMA, with licensing required for use in an accreditation procedure. GoldObserve therefore provides a method and direct official link rather than cloning the current list. This avoids a stale parallel registry and preserves the source's terms.

PRIMARY SOURCES

FAQ

Good Delivery List questions

What does the LBMA Gold Current List prove?

It documents that a refinery's qualifying bars are currently accredited for the global OTC market under LBMA's program. It does not authenticate a retail bar photographed online.

What is the Former List?

It records refiners transferred from current status, with historical details. Former status requires date-aware interpretation rather than deleting the refiner from history.

Can I copy the whole list into another database?

LBMA states that the Good Delivery List is its property and that use in an accreditation procedure is subject to licence. GoldObserve links to the official current record instead of republishing a shadow list.

How often should I check a refiner?

Check at the transaction or review date because status, marks, locations, audit material and monitoring activity can change.
