EUROPEAN BULLION COIN

Vienna Philharmonic Gold Coin Value & Specifications

THE SHORT ANSWER

One ounce means one fine ounce; the euro denomination is not the price

A one-ounce Gold Vienna Philharmonic contains one fine troy ounce of Au 999.9 gold, has a 37 mm diameter and carries a €100 denomination. Its live melt value is the current euro gold price per ounce. Retail ask, dealer buyback, delivery, tax and collector demand must be evaluated separately.

The 2026 issuing programme lists every gold size without a maximum mintage. “Unlimited” does not mean an infinite number was struck; it means there is no published maximum cap. Actual production responds to demand and should come from a dated Mint report before being quoted as a final mintage.

Fractional coins need less cash per unit and can make partial liquidation easier, but often cost more per fine ounce. The one-ounce coin may offer a tighter percentage spread, while the smallest coin can be more useful when resale flexibility matters more than the lowest initial premium.

SOURCE BOUNDARY

Fine weight is not an unstated gross-weight tolerance

The Austrian Mint's current product pages label the gram field as Feingewicht: fine weight. GoldObserve therefore does not relabel 31.10 g as a precise total mass, nor use 999.9 fineness to invent a gross figure. Melt value uses the stated fine troy ounces directly.

The displayed gram values are rounded for product presentation. For example, one exact troy ounce is 31.1034768 g while the current page displays 31.10 g. That is a unit-display boundary, not evidence that a particular specimen is light.

FAQ

Gold Vienna Philharmonic questions

How much is a one-ounce Gold Vienna Philharmonic worth?

Its melt-value starting point is one fine troy ounce multiplied by a same-time gold price. A transaction also reflects premium, dealer bid, condition, tax, delivery and fees.

Is the Gold Vienna Philharmonic 24 karat?

The Austrian Mint publishes the gold series as Au 999.9, commonly described as 24-karat or four-nines fine gold.

Are 2026 Gold Philharmonics limited?

The Austrian Mint's 2026 issuing programme states that the five gold sizes are minted without a maximum mintage.

Why does the one-ounce page say 31.10 grams?

That is the Mint's displayed fine-weight field rounded to two decimals. One troy ounce is exactly 31.1034768 grams; do not invent a total mass or tolerance from the rounded display.

Does the €100 denomination set the one-ounce coin's value?

No. The OeNB defines bullion coins as trading by precious-metal value rather than face value. The denomination is a legal-tender field, not a market quote.
