The delta compares the first edition containing 2023 with MCS 2026. Zero means the displayed rounded value did not change.

Interpretation boundary: an unmarked prior year is not labelled final or audited. USGS does not provide a cause for every changed cell. A revision is not automatically a supply shock, valuation signal or future-price input; this tool is not a price forecast.
THE DIRECT ANSWER
Some apparently precise silver statistics changed materially after first publication
MCS 2024 estimated 2023 industry stocks at 58 metric tonnes. MCS 2025 and 2026 report 27 tonnes. From the first estimate to the latest edition, the displayed value changed by 31 tonnes, or 53.4%.
The largest relative change in the verified matrix is 53.4% for 2023 industry stocks, yearend. That proves edition identity matters; it does not prove the physical market moved by the same amount when the newer report appeared.
ESTIMATE → LATER EDITION
2024 import reliance moved from 64% to 68%
MCS 2025 marked the 2024 observation as estimated and reported 64% net import reliance. MCS 2026 reports 68% for the same year. The revision is 4 percentage points; it is not a four-point year-over-year increase.
The early compact CSV files do not preserve the estimate mark or complete notes. GoldObserve therefore pins the numeric file and pairs it with the same-edition Silver PDF rather than pretending the CSV alone contains the full evidence.
FACT, INFERENCE, LIMIT
The files show what changed, not one cause for every cell
Fact
The selected official row differs across named USGS editions, with exact files, versions and hashes shown.
Inference boundary
Later reporting, classification or rounding may matter, but USGS has no complete cell-level revision-reason ledger.
Market boundary
Edition revisions do not measure retail availability, contract inventories, fair value or future price direction.

QUESTIONS
USGS silver revision FAQ
What is a USGS silver data revision?
It is a change in the value published for the same observation year across later Mineral Commodity Summaries editions. It is not a change measured between two economic years.
Why can an estimate change in the next edition?
Later reporting, classification work or rounding can change a published cell, but USGS does not assign one cell-level cause to every revision. GoldObserve therefore shows the difference without inventing a reason.
Why does the comparison stop at 2024?
The 2025 observation appears only in MCS 2026, so it has no later edition to compare yet. The tool requires at least two official editions for every displayed observation year.
Does an observation without an e mark mean final or audited?
No. It only means the same-edition Silver PDF did not mark that displayed prior-year value as estimated. Later editions can still revise it.
Can the revision matrix predict silver prices?
No. Publication revisions are data-quality evidence. They do not estimate demand, available inventories, fair value or future price direction.
