AUSTRALIAN BULLION COIN

Australian Gold Kangaroo Value, Price & Specifications

THE SHORT ANSWER

Value the contained gold first, then price the exact coin

A 2026 one-ounce Australian Gold Kangaroo contains one fine troy ounce of 99.99% pure gold, has a published minimum weight of 31.107 grams and carries an A$100 denomination. Its live melt value is one ounce multiplied by a same-time gold price; retail premium, dealer bid, tax, delivery and collector demand remain separate.

Five sizes create very different purchase and resale units

The one-kilo line is published as 32.151 fine troy ounces and at least 1,000.100 grams, so multiplying a rounded ounce figure back into grams will not reproduce the displayed gram field exactly. Do not turn that rounding difference into a counterfeit verdict or an invented tolerance.

TRANSACTION VALUE

Melt, ask, bid and net proceeds answer four different questions

1 / MELTFine ounces × gold price

Metal reference at one observation.

2 / ASKMelt + acquisition costs

Premium, tax, delivery and payment cost.

3 / BIDExecutable buyer offer

Quote for this size, year and quantity.

4 / NETBid − seller costs

Shipping, insurance, assay or other deductions.

Compare dealer asks and buyback bids against the same gold observation. Fractional coins can make partial liquidation easier, but the percentage premium per fine ounce is often higher. A kilo coin concentrates value in one unit and can reduce flexibility when only part of a holding must be sold.

IDENTITY AND SECURITY

Use the year, finish, design and physical fields together

Perth Mint describes a micro-laser engraved letter within the design as an authentication feature and places its P mintmark on the coin. Those are useful inspection inputs, but no single visible feature proves authenticity. Confirm the correct year-specific design, published dimensions, provenance and seller before escalating to non-destructive professional testing.

Ordinary bullion and proof collector issues are not interchangeable listings. The 2026 tenth-ounce bullion product is capped at 200,000 and does not come with a certificate; Perth Mint's 2026 tenth-ounce proof has a maximum mintage of 500 and includes a numbered certificate and display case.

METHOD AND LIMITS

What is measured and what remains a market question

  • Specifications are transcribed from Perth Mint 2026 product pages and its bullion brochure.
  • “Minimum weight” and “maximum diameter/thickness” retain the Mint's directional labels.
  • Live melt uses the calculator's labelled source, currency, unit and observation time.
  • Premium, bid, tax, grading and collector value are not supplied by the Mint specification.
  • This page does not authenticate a coin or predict its future price.

FAQ

Australian Gold Kangaroo questions

How much is a one-ounce Australian Gold Kangaroo worth?

Its metal-value starting point is one fine troy ounce multiplied by a same-time gold price. A real transaction also includes the product premium, dealer bid, condition, tax and fees.

Is the Australian Gold Kangaroo pure gold?

The 2026 bullion range is struck from 99.99% pure gold. The one-ounce coin has a published minimum weight of 31.107 grams and contains one fine troy ounce.

Does the face value determine the coin's gold value?

No. The denomination establishes legal-tender status but is normally far below the market value of the contained gold. Use fine-gold content and a current gold observation for melt value.

Does an Australian Gold Kangaroo come with a certificate?

Perth Mint says its bullion coins do not include a certificate of authenticity. Proof collector products are a different finish and can include numbered certificates and presentation packaging.

Is every Gold Kangaroo limited?

No. Perth Mint lists the 2026 one-kilo and one-ounce coins as unlimited, while the half-, quarter- and tenth-ounce coins have stated maximum mintages.
