A counterfeit can attempt to imitate visible geometry. Bullion DNA adds a database comparison, but even that result should be kept with the seller, invoice, custody and coin records. Authentication and proof of ownership are separate questions.

OFFICIAL PROCESS

What a registered Bullion DNA dealer actually does

  1. The dealer places the eligible coin in the specialized reader.
  2. The application captures a high-resolution image of the security mark.
  3. The Bullion DNA server compares the image with encrypted information in the Mint database.
  4. The system reports whether the coin is registered with the Mint.

This is not the same as scanning a QR code, reading a serial number or uploading a consumer photo. Ask the dealer to identify the service being performed, the exact coin scope, any fee, how the result is documented and what happens if the coin cannot be verified.

  4. Inspect radial lines and the micro-engraved mark under appropriate magnification for eligible issues.
  5. Escalate uncertainty to a registered Bullion DNA dealer or another established non-destructive professional process.
  6. Keep invoice, custody receipt, test method and result together; never file, drill or acid-test a bullion coin for convenience.
