Precisely machined line width and pitch create a characteristic diffraction effect.
A textured maple leaf contains the last two digits of the issue year.
The Mint captures encrypted information associated with the security mark.
Approved equipment compares the coin image with the secure database.
A counterfeit can attempt to imitate visible geometry. Bullion DNA adds a database comparison, but even that result should be kept with the seller, invoice, custody and coin records. Authentication and proof of ownership are separate questions.

What a registered Bullion DNA dealer actually does
- The dealer places the eligible coin in the specialized reader.
- The application captures a high-resolution image of the security mark.
- The Bullion DNA server compares the image with encrypted information in the Mint database.
- The system reports whether the coin is registered with the Mint.
This is not the same as scanning a QR code, reading a serial number or uploading a consumer photo. Ask the dealer to identify the service being performed, the exact coin scope, any fee, how the result is documented and what happens if the coin cannot be verified.
